Huntsville, AL, September 01, 2011

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Directorate of Science and Technology (S&T) recently awarded The Q-Track Corporation a Phase II SBIR contract to explore use of Q-Track’s Near-Field Electromagnetic Ranging (NFER®) technology to locate personnel in GPS-denied settings.

Q-Track’s NFER® Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS) employ low-frequency, long-wavelength signals to achieve accurate location information in difficult wireless propagation environments. The technology is already used in the nuclear industry and elsewhere. Q-Track is currently hiring software engineers and RTLS technicians to help apply NFER® RTLS in a variety of emerging commercial applications.

“This award underscores the need for highly accurate location data in the most challenging environments,” acknowledged Q-Track CEO, Jerry Gabig. “We’re looking forward to extending the capability of NFER® RTLS to even more challenging settings under this effort.”
