Why NFER® RTLS Technology? NFER® Real-Time Location System (RTLS) technology operates at low frequencies. Low frequencies penetrate walls better than high frequencies. Low frequencies also diffract around obstacles like human bodies. According to a leading wireless scientist, “deploying a positioning system that works well indoors is a challenge because radio signals are reflected off walls, floors, and ceilings which tend to confuse sensors.”1 NFER® technology avoids this major problem of reflecting radio-frequency signals by utilizing a radically different means of measuring distance. Q-Track algorithms exploit the near-field properties of radio waves shortly after they are transmitted from an antenna.
