    NFER® ADVANTAGES

  • Long Range
  • High Accuracy
  • Low Cost
  • Excels Indoors
  • Superb for People Tracking
  • Ready for Evaluation

Q-Track's NFER® (near-field electromagnetic ranging) technology is the preferred real-time locating system (RTLS) solution for the most challenging environments. Operating at low frequencies (typically 0.53 - 1.7MHz), this technology is more accurate at a longer range than the alternatives.

Long Range

Low frequency signals propagate better than the high frequencies used by incumbent systems. In this warehouse with pallets stacked five-high, NFER® systems tracked within 60cm (2ft) with Locator-Receivers placed 55m (180ft) apart.

High Accuracy

Low frequencies are less prone to multipath, yielding more robust and accurate positioning in complicated indoor environments like this parking garage. NFER® systems are rarely more than 1m (3ft) in error.

Low Cost

Low frequency hardware is inherently simpler and less expensive than comparable high frequency hardware. QT™-400 locators have a built in 802.11b CF card, thus avoiding expensive installation. Finally, long range means much less infrastructure.

Excels Indoors

GPS works well for outdoor tracking. Q-Track provides the "GPS" for indoor tracking. The low frequencies used by Q-Track provide superior propagation and performance in the most complicated indoor environments.

Superb for People Tracking

Low frequency signals cannot be blocked by the body. This ensures reliable signal transmission in any orientation, and an accurate NFER® location solution.

Ready for Evaluation

We're looking to enable application - savvy integrators who have the support and distribution channels to put NFER® technology to work for end users. Contact us to learn how a QT™-400 Starter Kit can get your business "on the QT."*

Welcome to Q-Track!

Get Your Business "On The QT" with a Starter Kit*
After four years of low-profile development, Q-Track announced the availability of QT™-400 Starter Kits at the IDTechEx Active RFID Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, in November of 2006.
Q-Track’s QT-400 Starter Kit tracked a person carrying a small NFER® Tag throughout the exhibit hall at the conference. Two customers are already beta-testing QT™-400 Starter Kits and integrating NFER® technology into end-user products. Contact Q-Track to arrange a visit so you can see our system in action, and learn how you can acquire a QT™-400 Starter Kit for yourself. Note: evaluation of the QT-400 Starter Kit requires an experimental license. Contact Q-Track for details.

In demonstrations, a QT™-400 system has tracked vehicles in a parking garage along a surveyed path with an accuracy of 15-30cm (6in-1ft). View the five minute video and judge for yourself [23MB]. Again, NFER® technology has proven itself ideal for complicated indoor environments where GPS is not available and alternate technologies cannot provide accurate tracking and fast update rates. For a six minute introduction to Q-Track's revolutionary NFER® technology, see the 2006 Q-Track video [9.5MB].
